Therapy Outside: Find purpose in the detour. Explore the road ahead.

Hi, I’m André

Andre St. Hilaire, M. Ed, LMHCA

Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate, Washington State #MC61435462

Do you feel stuck, overwhelmed or lost? Are you trying to figure out a big life change?

I specialize in helping adults who want more out of life. The focus of my practice is to help people make forward momentum and overcome stress, anxiety and burnout.

I provide therapy outdoors in the Puget Sound as well as online video therapy for people throughout Washington State. Our session can happen on a trail, by the water or from the convenience of your computer screen.

Whether you haven’t found your path, are on a bit of a detour or just don’t know where to go from here therapy can help!

I’m passionate about helping people reduce stress and burnout and rediscover their adventurous spirit.

Together we can…

  • Explore your inner strengths

  • Notice patterns that are getting in your way

  • Navigate challenges and changes in your life

  • Expand beyond your comfort zone

  • Discover how to be more present in your life

  • Practice self care and find a sense of calm in a stressed out world

  • Build hope and resiliency

  • Move towards what you want for the road ahead

My Approach…

As a therapist I see myself as a guide. The support I provide will meet you where you are at. I am here to help you discover your goals and walk alongside you as you pursue them. I use an integrative approach meaning I’ll draw from multiple perspectives and counseling theories as we work together to better know your whole self. I enjoy working with clients in the outdoors because I’ve experienced the healing and calming presence of nature in my own life. I also meet with clients through online therapy appointments.

About Me…

I grew up on a farm in rural Yakima Valley and have spent my adult life in Tacoma. I have a lot of interests that occupy my free time including long distance cycling, exploring the PNW and beyond, live music, snowshoeing, and most recently cold plunging in the Puget Sound. I’m often found visiting the park with my Australian cattle dog Hank. I can also be indoorsy and enjoy collecting mid century treasures, experimenting with making fermented food, or even staying in to read and listen to some vinyl next to my cat Peggy.

My Experience…

Prior to starting Open Road Wellness, I earned my Master of Education in Counseling at the University of Puget Sound and a B.A. in Sociology and Communication at Pacific Lutheran University. I have 10+ years of experience as a counselor in public schools and as a case manager for adults with barriers to entering the workforce.

I am continuing my studies in the Ecotherapies graduate certificate program at Lewis & Clark College where I will enhance my work as a therapist who works with clients in the outdoors.

Recent and upcoming post-graduate trainings include:

  • Introduction to Nature Based Therapy

  • OT and Mental Health Support for Adults with Neurodivergence

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy: 2 Day Intensive ACT Training

  • Basic Principles of Somatic Experiencing

  • Narrative (Therapy) Practice
